“It’s not going to be easy. You’re no longer in your comfort zone, but it gets better and it usually pays off.”
Farrah Aqlima’s journey from science to finance demonstrates remarkable adaptability and ambition. Attending KYUEM from 2004 to 2006 on a Yayasan UEM scholarship, she laid a foundation for academic and leadership skills. She then pursued biotechnology at University College London (UCL) with plans for a career in pharmaceuticals. However, an unexpected shift in corporate structure altered her path, prompting Farrah to pivot to finance. Supported by Kaplan’s CIMA program, she transitioned into finance, leveraging her analytical background in roles at UEM and Macquarie Group, where she honed her strategic and financial acumen.
As a KYUEM alumna, Farrah continues to inspire others with her resilience and success. Rising to the position of Head of Finance at JobStreet Malaysia, she exemplifies the diverse potential fostered at KYUEM, where she developed her leadership and adaptability. Her experiences have fueled a drive to mentor others, showing how a strong educational foundation can support bold career shifts and long-term growth.
