Hazim Mohamad’s educational journey began at the prestigious Kolej Yayasan Saad (KYS), before advancing to Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) for his pre-university studies. His active participation included organizing the first KYUEM summit, which brought together top corporate leaders globally. This rich experience propelled him to the University of Warwick for a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting, and later to MIT for a Master’s in Finance. Hazim’s career is equally illustrious, with roles ranging from an angel investor in companies like Kyte, Jibble Group, and Grainer to a consultant at the World Bank Group.
The idea for Counselab stemmed from a request for guidance from his co-founder, Kaartik Nagarajan, who sought Hazim’s advice at 17 through Facebook. Recognizing a gap for a dedicated advisory platform, Hazim founded Counselab, aimed at providing focused 1:1 advising sessions on academic and career topics. Counselab overcomes common hurdles in advisory engagements, offering a hybrid marketplace and social network. Hazim’s advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is to start with passion as a hobby, backed by a solid plan and time management. With Counselab, his vision is to create the go-to platform for educational and career advice, bridging the gap between knowledge and real-world experience.
As of this writing, Hazim is currently serving as the CEO of Coffeespace.
